What makes the significant difference between the different offline programming software on the market?

That is the programming speed. The differences in programming time may be more than 10 times. Let’s say, it takes three weeks or 15 days to create a welding program for a machine frame with one software and then just one day or 8 hours with another software. Why? Advanced offline programming

Built-in intelligence brings programming to the next level. The operations which used to require intensive manual mouse clicking and explicit typing with a keyboard are automated. The software creates tool paths automatically with just one mouse click – or even without any manual operation by utilizing the CAD metadata.
A complex, huge gantry robot system might have 24 axes in total: two robots, x-y-z -linear axes, two multiple axis part positioners and even servo-controlled torches. Automated programming software automatically calculates the correct position for the robots to reach all weld seams in desired welding orientation. Collisions or reachability issues are avoided using the intelligent solvers of the software. Then a verified robot program is generated automatically for any robot brand. And go!

Robots can process single products – not just long series

The evolution of the software in robot programming will open completely new dimensions for robotization. Production series is no longer a problem. Industrial robots can also be used in traditionally manual operations with very small production volumes, even one piece at a time, when the programming is done offline using a smart program generator.
For example, the products of structural steel industry, like beams, are produced one at a time – manually. Labour costs are constantly under focus and a substantial part of the production costs. Until today the companies have run after lower wages and moved their production to low-cost countries. Now the direction has changed. Western companies are calling home their offshore projects as robots have started to replace low-cost jobs.

SMEs take full advantage

Many subcontractors have contracts with just one or two OEMs for whom they produce components. This is very vulnerable business if an OEM decides to stop the cooperation. Sub-contractors and small businesses have found fast programming to help them make more business. Ability to use robots economically for high-mix low-volume production gives SMEs a fast way to make more business. More customers to serve means increased invoicing.
