HospitaL Logistics simulation in HUS
Delfoi and HUS (The Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa) have started a common project concerning the intralogistic planning and simulation of the new Trauma Center and Comprehensive Cancer Centre (The Bride Hospital). The Bridge hospital will be located in the heart of the Meilahti Hospital Campus area and include all main functions of Trauma Center and Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Budget for the project is 250 MEUR and the construction is carried out between years 2018 and 2021.
Delfoi’s role in the project is to plan, design and simulate the indoor logistics of the Bridge Hospital. The goal is to assure through simulation that in the planning phase all logistical systems are designed with the right capacity for the people- and material flows in the future. Delfoi produces the logistic concept for the Bridge Hospital’s in close cooperation with the hospital workers and the architect coalition Team Integrated.
“The building, which we are planning, is complex and the functioning indoor logistics are a key component in reaching the goals for the project. HUS and Delfoi have been working together for a long time, and in addition Delfoi has an in-depth knowledge in designing and simulating demanding indoor logistics. Cooperation with Delfoi has worked well and professionally, and I am certain it will continue in the next phases of the project as well,” says Salla Itäaho, Architect from HUS-Tilakeskus.
